Excursion to Saint-Petersburg Icebreaker

On 22 December 2014 the North-Western Basin Branch arranged an excursion to the Saint-Petersburg icebreaker for the children – pupils of the municipal educational institution “Volosovskiy District Orphanage No. 1” for orphans and children without parental custody.

Chief mate of the icebreaker Constantine Shishkarev gave a tour of the icebreaker and told the children about its mission and technical peculiarities, and also answered all the questions. During the tour the kids could visit the deck-house and the central control console of the icebreaker, and also saw the daily life of the crew with their own eyes.

In the end of the excursion the children enjoyed a real maritime lunch with “macaroni po-flotski” (Russian maritime-style pasta) and received gifts from the Saint-Petersburg icebreaker crew.
