FSUE "Rosmorport" at the Clean Baltic Sea Shipping international seminar

On March 27, 2013 the Clean Baltic Sea Shipping international seminar was held in Kaliningrad. THe project is being implemented in the Baltic Sea countries during 2010-2013, unites more than 40 organizations participants, and its main goal is to decrease atmospheric pollution from vessels in the Baltic Sea area in general, and in the Baltic seaports in particular. The seminar took place in Kaliningrad, at the Kaliningrad Department of the FSUE "Rosmorport" North-West Basin Branch, in order to involve more Russian organizations interested in the field and the result of the project. 

Among the participants of the event were representatives of the leading seaports of the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad Region authorities, employees of the port industry enterprises in Kaliningrad, of research and publiv organizations, and also supervision bodies – all in all about 50 people from 15 Russian and 12 European organizations, including the FSUE "Rosmorport" employees.

A wide range of issues related to decrease of the negative influence of regular shipping and port activities on the environment of the Baltic Sea was discussed at the seminar. In particular, the ESPO pprojects, such as "EcoPorts" and "Ecological Port Index", and also the possibility for the Russian seaports to participate in them were matters of active discussion.

Counsellor to FSUE "Rosmorport" General Director S.A. Bryzgalov presented a report on the topic: "FSUE "Rosmorport" Ecological Activities in the Baltic Basin Seaports", and chief experts on environmental protection of the FSUE "Rosmorport" North-West Basin Branch I.V. Sidlo, and L.D. Gavrilova made a presentation on the topic: "Ships Sewage Reception and Onshore Power SUPPLY Efforts in Russian Baltic Sea Ports".

The participants of the seminar stresssed the importance of the activities carried out by the EU and Russia countries with the aim to decrease the emissions and dumps of pollutants from sea transport in the Baltic Sea water area, and expressed confidence in the further development of international cooperation in this sphere.
