The first test of icebreaker "Saint-Petersburg" in ice conditions

On January, 25th, 2010 at 23:00 Moscow time Icebreaker "Saint-Petersburg", constructed in 2009 entered the Gulf of Finland for pilotage of large-tonnage tankers to the seaports of Vyborg and Vysotsk. Pilotage of those vessels became the first test of icebreaker "Saint-Petersburg" in severe ice conditions of winter navigation 2009-2010.

Reference: linear two-deck diesel-electric icebreaker "Saint-Petersburg", ship of 14 300 tons’ displacement, length – 114 meters, width – 27,5 meters, draught – 8,5 meters, navigation speed in ice-free waters – 16 knots. Crew – 26 persons.
