The boundaries of the seaport of Korsakov changed

By the order of the Government of Russia No. 882-r of April 5, 2021, amendments to the boundaries of the seaport of Korsakov were made.

The adjustments are related to the inclusion of the territories of the seaports of Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy, Moskalvo and Poronaysk into the boundaries of the seaport of Korsakov. Orders of the Government of Russia on approving the boundaries of the territories of the seaports of Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy, Moskalvo and Poronaysk that had been issued earlier, were recognized as invalid.

Issuing of this order of the Government of Russia is the first step towards the implementation of a comprehensive plan of measures to change the boundaries of the territories of Russian seaports, aimed at improving the efficiency of the operation of Russian seaports and their management by including the boundaries of the territory of inactive seaports, as well as ports with adjacent boundaries of the territory, into the boundaries of the territories of other seaports.

In addition, by the decision of the Government of Russia, areas of the territory of the Vityaz industrial production complex were excluded from the boundaries of the territory of the seaport of Korsakov due to the decommissioning of the complex. The same goes for the areas of the territory of the Ozersk sea terminal that were decommissioned due to the impossibility of using the berths of the sea terminal by design vessels for their intended purpose. Under conditions of high drift, the depths near the cordon of the berths of the Ozersk sea terminal have decreased below the design values.
