Sakhalin Branch Carries Out Pilotage of HAKURYU-5 Semi-submersible Drilling Rig in Seaport of Korsakov

The tug convoy consisting of two tugs and the HAKURYU-5 semi-submersible drilling rig (under the flag of Panama) moving to the drilling site at the Ayashsky license block located on the continental shelf of the Sea of Okhotsk called at the seaport of Korsakov on May 24, 2017.

Under conditions of limited visibility the pilot of the Sakhalin Branch, Yuri Zilinsky, competently carried out pilotage of the tug convoy from the point of the pilot's delivery aboard the master vessel where he had been delivered by the Dobrynya tug of the Sakhalin Branch, to the site of anchorage in Zone No 371 of the seaport of Korsakov.

On the same day he also carried out pilotage of the tug convoy to the key point of anchorage located at the distance of 5.5 nautical miles from the borders of the water area of the seaport of Korsakov.

The tug convoy consisting of two special anchor handling tugs and the floating semi-submersible drilling rig is moving from the seaport of Vung Tau (Vietnam) to the Ayashsky license block on the continental shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk – a part of the Sakhalin-3 project.

The tugs are equipped with the dynamic positioning system, which will help preserve their designated location and the position of the tugged facility irrespective of the wind and waves influence.

The drilling rig will stay at the current site of anchorage till June 4 to load equipment and materials, to change the crew and conduct bunkering. Then it will be towed off to the drilling site where it is planning to arrive in the first decade of June.
