Certificate of GMDSS Coast Facility Conformity received

Following the results of inspecting the Petropavlosk-Kamchatsky coast station of the A1 GMDSS sea area FSUE “Rosmorport” received Rosmorrechflot's Certificate of Coast Facility Conformity No GMDSS-3/1-3035-2017 of May 29, 2017 with the requirements of IMO Resolution A 801(19) and Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Order No 226 of July 23, 2015.

In 2005 and 2012 the coast station successfully underwent inspections. Following the results of the inspections, the enterprise was given certificates of the coast station's conformity with the existing requirements to the functioning of this equipment in the GMDSS system.

The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky coast station of the GMDSS A1 sea area located on Mount Sapun in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was put into operation in October 2002.

Equipment of the coast station includes transmitter-responders, controllers and antenna-feeder devices that are part of the base radio station, equipment ensuring the operation and safety of GMDSS facilities, as well as equipment of the traffic control system.

The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky coast station of the GMDSS A1 sea area assists in

– maintaining uninterrupted radio watch and radio communication on GMDSS frequencies used on VHF marine bands;

– providing operative contact between vessels and the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky maritime rescue sub-center of the Kamchatka Branch of the FSUE “Administration of Seaports of Sakhalin, the Kuriles and Kamchatka” to organize rescue operations;

– carrying out automatic processing of distress and safety calls by using a digital selective call with vessel at sea within the limits of the area the boundaries of which have been determined in accordance with the criteria established by the International Maritime Organization for coast radio stations of the A1 GMDSS sea area in order to ensure safety.
