The celebration in honor of the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Novorossiysk VTS was held in the Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch of the FSUE “Rosmorport”.

The outstanding employees of Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch were honored with commemorative signs “25 years of the Novorossiysk VTS”, and the entire operator staff of the Novorossiysk VTS were presented with a certificate of gratitude and appreciation by the director of the Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch Anna Fomenko.

The branch also sent congratulations and memorable gifts for the anniversary date to all honored veterans of the industry, former employees – Novorossiysk VTS operators.

Today, there are over 81 thousand vessels annually in the Novorossiysk VTS coverage area. The Novorossiysk VTS operator staff in the amount of more than 20 people with the help of modern VTS equipment provides vessels in the Novorossiysk VTS coverage area with integrated navigation services for:
- detecting vessels on the approaches to the VTS coverage area, establishing communication with them, obtaining data about vessels;
- transfer of navigational, operational and other information to vessels at the initiative of VTS operators or at the request of a vessel;
- assistance in navigation;
- arrangement and regulation of vessel traffic;
- control over the vessels traffic and the position of vessels at anchorages and outboard mooring facilities.

The history of the creation and development of the Novorossiysk VTS dates back to September 1995. At the time of its formation, the Novorossiysk VTS included a VTS control center and two remote radio technical posts at the Penai and Doob capes. The Novorossiysk VTS was assigned the first category, and the operator staff consisted of 10 people.

Within the period of 1998 -2000, large-scale work was carried out to modernize the equipment and expand the Novorossiysk VTS, in this connection a new radio post facility Gelendzhik was included in the Novorossiysk VTS, designed to detect ships on long-distance approaches to the seaports of Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik. Based on the results of the survey in 2000, the Novorossiysk VTS has been recognized as complying with the requirements for a VTS of the highest category.

In August 2002, a radio post facility Yuzhnaya Ozereevka was put into operation as part of the Novorossiysk VTS, designed to ensure the safety of navigation of vessels in the area of the new CPC-R sea oil terminal in the seaport of Novorossiysk.

In May 2004, the automated information data system was put into operation as part of the Novorossiysk VTS, and in September 2019, the equipment and personnel of the Novorossiysk VTS center were moved to a new, more convenient and comfortable premises.
