Murmansk Branch takes part in interdepartmental exercises

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch took part in interdepartmental exercises organized by the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Murmansk Region.

The event was attended by specialists of the Department of Sanitary Supervision on Transport and Border Protection of the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Murmansk Region, the Federal Medical Institution “Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Murmansk Region”, the Ministry of Health of the Murmansk Region, the Murmansk Linear Department on Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Western Arctic Region and the Murmansk Customs.

The exercises were aimed at working out the interaction and checking the readiness of all services when receiving information that there is a sick person with signs of a particularly dangerous infection among the crew members of a vessel heading to the seaport of Murmansk.

The Murmansk Branch provided the Admiral Makarov icebreaker, which is currently undergoing pre-voyage repairs in the seaport of Murmansk, for the exercises.

According to the legend of the exercises, a sick person with signs of a particularly dangerous infection was identified on the vessel heading to the seaport of Murmansk. The seaport authorities were immediately informed, and the conditional patient was isolated. Primary anti-epidemic measures were carried out on board the icebreaker. Then a sanitary and epidemiological team arrived on board, consisting of employees of the ambulance service, the Department of Rospotrebnadzor for the Murmansk Region, the Murmansk Customs and the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Western Arctic Region. After the sick person was examined and the necessary organizational and technical measures were carried out, the patient was taken to a city medical institution. Disinfection was carried out on the vessel by employees of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Murmansk Region in all rooms where the patient was kept until the isolation. The captain of the vessel kept crew members under observation in order to detect similar cases of the disease as soon as possible.

During the exercises, the functionality of a potential viral danger notification schemes were checked, as well as the readiness of officials at all levels to implement sanitary quarantine control procedures and take response measures. All the services involved in the exercises received a satisfactory work assessment from the exercise management.
