Murmansk Sea Area A1 GMDSS Coast Station undergoes recertification

According to the results of the inspection by Rosmorrechflot, FSUE “Rosmorport” has obtained the certificate No. GMDSS-3/1-3214-2021 of April 21, 2021 on compliance of the Murmansk sea area A1 GMDSS coast station to the IMO Resolution A.801(19) and to the requirements established by the order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation No. 226 of July 23, 2015.

The coast station, being a part of the control center and the base radio station Abram-Mys, was put into operation in 1999 and was taken over by FSUE “Rosmorport” in 2004.

In order to expand the coverage area of ​​the sea area A1 of the seaport of Murmansk, the base radio station Krestovy was put into operation in 2004, as well as the base radio station Set-Navolok in 2008.

From 1999 to the present day, the coast station has successfully undergone 5 occasional inspections. As a result, the enterprise has obtained the certificates confirming the station’s compliance to the current requirements for the operation of such facilities.

The Murmansk sea area A1 GMDSS coast station consists of a communications control center, located in the seaport of Murmansk, and three base radio stations: Abram-Mys, Krestovy and Set-Navolok.

The operating range of the Abram-Mys, Krestovy and Set-Navolok base radio stations is 16.5, 45 and 30 nautical miles, respectively.

With the help of the coast station, the following actions are carried out in its coverage area:

- continuous radio watch and radio exchange with vessels in the VHF range of the maritime mobile service and in radiotelephonic mode;

- operational communication between vessels and the Murmansk marine rescue and coordination center of the FSI "Western Arctic MPA" for organizing of search and rescue operations;

- automated performing of distress, urgency and security call procedures using digital selective call technology with vessels in the Kola Bay and on approaches to it.
