Boundaries of the seaport of Murmansk changed

Under Russian Government Directive No. 810-r of March 31, 2020, the amendments have been made to the boundaries of the seaport of Murmansk.

The corrections are linked with changing the boundaries of the water area of the seaport of Murmansk in order to include three water sections in the Ura Bay in its boundaries where a liquefied natural gas transshipping sea terminal is planning to be organized. The terminal is designed for transshipping LNG by using floating gas storages.

The transshipping sea terminal will represent three mooring berths. Two floating gas storages of 330 meters in length and 60 meters in breadth are planned to be broken out on two mooring berths. Each floating gas storage will be fixed by a system consisting of 32 200-tons prismatic anchors on the bottom. Gas carriers of Yamalmaks type with the length of 300 meters, the breadth of 50 meters and load draught of 13 meters will be able to moor to floating gas storages.

A floating pier section will be installed on the third mooring berth. It will be designed for placing vessels of the auxiliary fleet and tugboats.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch is planning to make pilotage of vessels moving to the transshipping sea terminal for loading and unloading operations and ensure navigation safety by using Kola Gulf VTS. To this end an automated wireless observer unit is planned to be built in the Ura Bay and it will be integrated into Kola Gulf VTS.

Additional information on the conditions and procedure for rendering navigation services with the use of Kola Gulf VTS and pilotage services in the seaport of Murmansk is available in the section “The Murmansk Branch Services”.
