The Murmansk Branch takes part in the 8th International Conference “Logistics in the Arctic”

Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch Alexander Bengert has taken part in the 8th International Conference “Logistics in the Arctic”. He has given a speech at the conference held under the auspices of the Government of the Murmansk region.

The conference focused on the current state and prospects for the development of the Northern Sea Route, facilities of the port infrastructure in the Arctic, particularly plans on creating a coal transshipment complex “The Lavna” in the seaport of Murmansk within developing the Murmansk transportation hub, as well as programs for developing the Russian icebreaker fleet.

The participants in the conference exchanged views and experience in introducing new technology in logistics, taking environmental measures, monitoring hydrometeological and ice conditions to ensure navigation safety.

In his speech the Murmansk Branch Director told the participants in the conference about the activities of FSUE “Rosmorport” and informed on technical possibilities of the enterprise’s icebreaker fleet to provide icebreaker support and icebreaker’s pilotage of vessels, plans on the development of the enterprise, particularly the Murmansk Branch.

In his speech Bengert especially noted the work of the Murmansk Branch to equip the Russian checkpoints in the sea terminal in the seaport of Murmansk that is planned to be put into operation in the summer 2018 when cruise navigation starts. He also riveted attention to the implementation of the events aimed at developing GMDSS coastal stations in the sea areas, A1 and A2, of the seaport of Murmansk.
