Murmansk Branch pilots perform pilotage and shoring of a storage tanker in Kola Bay

On December 17, 2017 the pilots of the Murmansk Branch, Nikolay Zelenkov, Dmitry Chernushkin and Vladimir Berezko, performed a complex pilotage operation of the KOLA storage tanker to the anchoring area and took part in the operations for shoring the vessel on the anchor and mooring stays of the temporary transshipping complex in Cape Filinsky of the Kola Bay.

During the operations, the pilots safely positioned the storage tanker with the dimensions of over 309,000 tons in deadweight, about 335 meters in length and 58 meters in breadth and with the considerable windage area toward the temporary roadstead transshipping complex. The tanker was shored on the anchor and mooring stays under the vessel shoring scheme.

It took almost 24 hours to pilot the storage tanker and carry out its shoring on the anchor and mooring stays.

After the temporary roadstead transshipping complex is successfully put into operation oil will be transferred through this complex. The first transshipping operation with the participation of the storage tanker is expected to take place early in 2018.
