Letter of Gratitude to Director of the Murmansk Branch

For the fruitful cooperation and the fulfillment of notable public activities that contributed to the development of the Arctic region and especially the natural protected areas of the “Russian Arctic”, the Murmansk Branch represented by its Director - Aleksandr Bengert has been commended by FGBU “Russian Arctic National Park”.

The icebreakers under command of the Murmansk Branch  regularly provide safe passages for ships in the Arctic region, delivering goods and people to the Isles of Franz Joseph Land archipelago where the State Natural Reserve of Federal Significance “Franz Josef Land” is located.

Between 2015 and 2017, the branch's icebreakers have carried out more than 20 deliveries of cargo and supplies to Alexandra Land located at Franz Josef Land, 33 ships have been granted a safe passage and more than 950 people have been transported aboard the icebreakers and passenger vessels.

When performing icebreaking operations to ensure safe passage for vessels, the Murmansk branch in cooperation with FGBU “Russian Arctic National Park” continuously performs control over compliance with the established set of environmental protection regulations in order to ensure the highest level of preservation of the natural protected areas of the “Russian Arctic”.
