On the eve of the Victory Day, on May 6, 2016, employees of the Murmansk Branch took part in the festive events dedicated to the memory of the port workers who died during the Great Patriotic War at their workplace under the bombs of the Nazi aviation in the seaport of Murmansk.

The branch staff walked in a solemn procession to the monument to the Port Workers Fallen in the Great Patriotic War, where there was held a festive rally and a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument.

On the anniversary day, May 9, 2016, the staff of the branch also participated in activities organized by the Murmansk city administration in honor of the 71th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

As a part of the celebration employees of the Murmansk Branch along with hundreds of city residents walked under festive banners from the central square of Murmansk to the memorial to Defenders of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War on the hill Zelyony Mys (“Green Cape”), rising 173 meters above the city and Kola Bay. At the foot of the monument the employees of the branch laid wreaths and paid tribute to all fallen in the Great Patriotic War.

The Memorial to Defenders of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War, opened in 1975, is a burial place for the remains of an Unknown soldier and two capsules. One capsule is filled with seawater from the gravesite of the legendary Tuman ship and the other one - with earth from the Valley of Glory and from the battle area at the Verman River front.
