Murmansk Branch Takes Part in Securing Umba Supertanker in Roadstead in the Kola Bay

Murmansk Branch provided pilotage escort and securing in the roadstead of the Kola bay near Krasnoshchelye Cape of the Umba supertanker (flag of the Russian Federation) with deadweight over 300 thousand tones.

During the complex navigation operation, at the first stage pilots of the Murmansk Branch carried out pilot escort of the vessel almost 333 meters long and 60 meters wide from the entrance to the Kola Bay to the roadstead in the area of Kulonga river, where the vessel is temporally anchored to carry out the formalities for accepting supplies and personnel on board under the established regulations and laws of the Russian Federation.

At the second stage the supertanker passed from the temporary roadstead transshipment complex, where, coordinated by pilots of the Murmansk Branch and Kola Bay VTS operators, it was anchored and positioned and its anchor-mooring ties were fixed.

The duration of all the operations on escorting and securing of the vessel amounted to more than 16 hours.

Umba supertanker will be operated in the Kola Bay as a roadstead transshipment complex for oil handling.

Oil handling works are expected to start in January 2016.
