Murmansk Branch Participates in Events Dedicated to 100 years of Murmansk Seaport

On 1 – 5 September employees of FSUE "Rosmorport" Murmansk Branch have participated in festive events dedicated to 100 years from foundation of Murmansk seaport.

Within the agenda Director of FSUE "Rosmorport" Murmansk Branch Vladimir Parkhomenko congratulated all workers of Murmansk seaport with the jubilee.

The history of seaport runs back to 1 September 1915, when Drott vessel from New-York moored at a temporal wooden wharf. In 1916 Romanov-on-Murman town was founded to ensure operation of the seaport, which later was renamed Murmansk. For all these 100 years the seaport has never suspended to operate. Even during war, attacked by fascist aviation, the seaport continued to function, despite everything.

On 2 September Murmansk Branch employees paid homage to 113 port workers by laying flowers to memorial of “Seaport workers – victims of the Great Patriotic War” and took part in opening of the public garden situated near the memorial. Moreover, on 3 September the team visited first night of a documentary film about the seaport operation in “Murmansk” cinema. The film tells not only about capturing and rich history of the port, but also about its future prospects.

The events have also included a festive meeting and a concert in Kirov cultural centre on 4 September, and ended on 5 September with a festival, which gathered all Murmansk citizens as well as its guests in the central square of the city. At playgrounds for children and interactive zones everyone could enjoy performances of popular actors and singers.
