Kapitan Dranitsin icebreaker implemented a pilotage of Vasily Golovnin motor ship into the Antarctic

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk branch icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsin has implemented a pilotage of Vasily Golovnin motor ship into the Antarctic.

The FESCO motor ship has delivered equipment, staff, provisions and other cargo to an Argentine Antarctic station Belgrano-2 situated in the Weddell Sea. The icebreaker assistance has been implemented by the Seven Seas Logistics Corp. order, with a voyage extent of 10 633 nautical miles.

Safe assistance in heavy ice conditions was provided owing to proper icebreaker operation and well coordinated work of the vessel crew.

At the moment the Kapitan Dranitsin icebreaker is heading to the seaport of Murmansk.

Kapitan Dranitsin is a Class KM(*) LL3[2] AUT2 diesel icebreaker with capacity 24 000 hp, 45mm hull and 12 288 tons displacement. It was built on the Värtsilä shipyard (Finland), certified according to the international standards as a single-purpose vessel for activity in drastic Arctic conditions.
