Major repairs of a mooring of distant lines are finished in the seaport of Murmansk

On June, 24th, 2010 major repairs of a passenger mooring of distant lines in the seaport of Murmansk were finished.

Necessity of carrying out of repairs has been caused by the considerable deterioration of the facility revealed by control authorities’ survey results.

The technical decisions on mooring major repairs have been directed to stabilization of the object technical condition and prolongation of its life time for 10 years without changing its passport characteristics.

As a result of the executed works metal sheet mooring walls was strengthened, the mooring received updated bumper devices, strengthened ferroconcrete head, new concrete covering, new electric and telephone networks.

The repairs with participation of a contractor selected on the basis of tender, proceeded during half a year, and their budget cost made more than 150 million rubles.

The mooring of distant lines in the seaport of Murmansk was built in 1961 for sea passenger transportations to Arkhangelsk, Ostrovnoy, Rybachiy peninsula, islands of Barents Sea and Solovetsky islands. Legendary vessels “Krusenstern” and “Sedov” were moored there.

Special importance of the given mooring consists in realization of cargo and passenger transportations to the settlements located on Kola peninsula coast which do not have other means of communication.
