Loading-unloading operations resumed at Berth No 4 in the seaport of Magadan upon its reconstruction
The first cargo vessel carrying containers moored in the seaport of Magadan on July 08, 2019 at Berth No 4. The reconstruction of the berth has been recently completed.
In the course of the unloading operations at Berth No 4 two mobile harbor Liebeherr cranes with the capacity of 84 and 124 tons were used.
The Federal State-Owned Institution “The Directorate of the State Customer for Marine Transport Development Programs” carried out reconstruction works of Berth No 4 from May 2015 to December 2018 under a program “The Economic and Social Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region for the Period until 2018”. Upon completing all works Berth No 4 was assigned to FSUE “Rosmorport” on the basis of the right of economic management pursuant to the Rosmorrechflot resolution and placed under management of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Magadan Branch according to the enterprise’s order for its subsequent lend lease to an operator of the sea terminal according to established procedure.
The reconstruction provided the full restoration of the facility’s technical condition and the improvement of its service characteristics. While carrying out the operations a new berth wall was made using steel key beds with the concrete superstructure. The reinforced concrete pavement of hydraulic structures’ territory was installed. It allows for placing heavy transshipping equipment in mobile motion on the berth.
Based on the results of the reconstruction technical and economic features of Berth No 4 allowed for repurposing it for transshipping large-tonnage containers with the project capacity of more than 113.000 TEU containers per year.
