Fikret Ismayilov, Acting Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Makhachkala Branch, took part in the meeting of the Maritime Activities Board under the Government of the Republic of Dagestan which was held on January 23, 2024 headed by Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan.

At the meeting the use of existing port facilities in the seaport of Makhachkala and their prospective development to increase the throughput capacity of the North-South international transport corridor was discussed.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues related to increasing the cargo base and ensuring uninterrupted operation of the seaport of Makhachkala regarding the problems of the Caspian Sea level drop.

During the meeting Fikret Ismayilov reported to the attendees on the tasks of the branch and the enterprise as a whole to maintain federal port infrastructure facilities in the seaport of Makhachkala, assigned to the enterprise, in good technical condition and plans for the development of existing capacities of the seaport.

“At present, due to the drop in the Caspian Sea level and high drifting of the approach canal, the seaport cannot accept fully laden vessels. In this regard, among the first priority steps, the enterprise is implementing a set of measures aimed at the reconstruction of Oil Pier No. 1, the Southern Pier and the approach canal of the Sukhogruznaya Harbor,” Fikret Ismayilov noted.

Following the discussion, it was decided that it was necessary to further elaborate comprehensive measures to implement plans for the reconstruction of the port infrastructure of the seaport of Makhachkala, and to develop export and logistics activities in the seaport.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Makhachkala Branch, together with the administration of Makhachkala and the Ministry of Property of the Republic of Dagestan, will participate in solving emerging problematic issues related to the issued urban development plans for infrastructure facilities being designed in the seaport of Makhachkala.
