On June 22, 2017, in the Makhachkala Branch, an interdepartmental meeting under the chairmanship of the Branch Director Apandi Nurmagomedov was held. The issues of the navigation safety during the period of repairing dredging operations conducted by the Branch in the second half of 2017 were discussed at the meeting.

The captain of the Seaport of Makhachkala Shakh Urguev, the representatives of the Russian Navy and of the PJSC "Murmansk commercial seaport", the heads of services and departments of the Makhachkala Branch of the FSUE "Rosmorport" also attended the interdepartmental meeting.

The Director of Makhachkala Branch informed the meeting participants about the beginning of repairing dredging operations with the installation of the "Dniester" dredger upon the limiting area of the 450 m of dry-cargo harbour canal of the Seaport of Makhachkala, for bringing the dimensions of the canal to the design marks of -6 m for the canal width of 100 m. The works are scheduled to be completed by October 2017.

Apandi Nurmagomedov drew attention of the participants to the fact that the works will be carried out at the entrance gate of dry-cargo harbour of the Seaport of Makhachkala in very constrained conditions (on the East side alongside the canal there is a shallow and on the West there is a breakwater).

Deputy Director for the capital construction and repairing of the Makhachkala Branch of the FSUE "Rosmorport" Manolis Fulov gave the audience more detailed information about the alleged dredging operations, about approximate timing and the works technology.

During the meeting, the captain of the Seaport of Makhachkala Shakh Urguev pointed at the importance of comprehensive solution of issues related to the navigation safety in the Seaport of Makhachkala, and drew attention to the need for coordination and collaboration of all services for the exit and entry of vessels in the waters of the Seaport of Makhachkala.

Shakh Urguev also informed the participants about the establishment of a working group to improve activities to ensure the navigation safety, the sustainable operation of infrastructure facilities of the Seaport of Makhachkala. The working group included representatives of the administration of Seaports of the Caspian sea, Makhachkala Branch of the FSUE "Rosmorport" and PJSC "Murmansk commercial seaport".

The participants of the meeting agreed to support the uninterrupted operation of the “Dniester” dredger and timely provide all necessary information to the Parties during emergency operations on the passage of vessels in the approach canal of the dry-cargo harbour of the Seaport of Makhachkala.

At the end of the meeting, the Director of Makhachkala Branch drew attention to the timely and proper fulfillment of tasks on implementation of the planned activities aimed at improving the safety of navigation in the Seaport of Makhachkala set before the Makhachkala Branch by Rosmorrechflot and the management of the enterprise.
