On June 23, 2016 the Makhachkala Branch took part in special tactical training exercises (STTS) on organization and conduct of measures to suppression terrorist act in the seaport of Makhachkala, conducted by the operational headquarters of the Republic of Dagestan under the auspices of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee.

According to the exercises legend, a group of insurgents entered the territory of the seaport of Makhachkala and implemented conditional hostage-taking. At the building of Makhachkala branch VTS signal post the terrorists, moving within the seaport territory, have been blocked by special units, some of them have been conditionally destroyed, and some - arrested, hostages have been freed.

On the part of Makhachkala branch the exercises were attended by the GMDSS and the VTS employees, which were worked closely with the Border Guard Department of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of Dagestan, Makhachkala linear management of the Ministry of Interior of Russia on transport, Main Department of MES of Russia in the Republic of Dagestan and other organizations participating in the STTS.

The Makhachkala branch VTS Operators conducted communicates with the focal point of the STTS and addressed the issues of ensuring the safety of navigation within the seaport water area.

In turn, the Makhachkala branch GMDSS operators continuously carried out monitoring of the progress of the training exercises on the distress channel, carried out notification of relevant structures and services, followed the instructions of the Astrakhan MRCC (Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre) and the captain of the seaport of Makhachkala.

According to the results of the special tactical training exercises, actions of the  Makhachkala branch GMDSS and VTS  staff, participated in the exercises, have received a positive assessment of the law enforcement agencies, conducted the  STTS.
