Director of the Azov Basin Branch takes part in a session of Maritime Council under the Rostov Region Government
Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azov Basin Branch Andrei Vakhrushev took part in a session of the Maritime Council under the Rostov Region Government on April 26, 2019. The session was chaired by Rostov Region Deputy Governor Mikhail Tikhonov.
Andrei Vakhrushev gave a report on the results of icebreaker support during the 2018-2019 navigation and spoke about plans to carry out dredging operations in the seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog in 2019, as well as about the state of the port infrastructure and measures to guarantee all-year conditions for navigation safety in the seaports of Azov and Rostov-on-Don.
He noted that the last winter weather conditions had been characterized as soft. The ice in the Sea of Azov did not spread to the south of the Dolgaya Spit that considerably simplified icebreaker support. During the 2018-2019 winter navigation in the seaports of Azov, Taganrog and Rostov-on-Don, over 3.000 vessels were provided support by the branch’s icebreakers.
Andrei Vakhrushev told the participants in the session that in 2018 navigation data of the Azov Don Shipping Canal and the Taganrog approach canal have been kept by the branch within their passport ratings. This year the branch faces the similar tasks to ensure compliance of navigational depths on the specified navigable sections.
In 2019 the Azov Basin Branch is planning to carry out repair dredging operations on the Azov Don Shipping Canal and the Taganrog approach canal, and on the Donetsky shoal in the amount of over 1.6 million cubic meters.
In order to ensure all-year navigation and navigation safety in the seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog the branch will continue to make the operation of all aids to navigation, GMDSS facilities and Taganrog Gulf VTS stable.
