On December 16, 2021 Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, held a working meeting with the FSUE “Rosmorport” representatives Olga Bragina, deputy General Director for State Property Management, Aleksander Leshchikov, deputy General Director for Security, and Aleksander Kim, Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch.

During the meeting, the issues of performing dredging works at the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal by the Astrakhan Branch, as well as the projects for possible widening of the Astrakhan Region crucial transport corridor were discussed.

The participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues concerning current and prospective development of the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal. Olga Bragina emphasized that the issues of planning and implementing of dredging works at the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal are of high priority for the enterprise and, more specifically, for the Astrakhan Branch.

‘We are constantly working in this field. The reconstruction of the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal will require the assistance of federal executive authorities and project institutes. We have already held meetings with the Federal Agency for Water Resources. Next week, we have a meeting with experts from the Russian State Hydrometeorological University on the same issue. We will work through the design specification together', Olga Bragina noted.
