Council for Maritime Activities session

The Council for Maritime Activities at the Governor of Astrakhan Region gathered for a session at a conference hall of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch on November 28, 2017 to sum up the results of the year 2017.

Prior to the session the governor visited the Evgeny Vasilyev pilot vessel, which had been added to the Astrakhan Branch fleet in 2017.

The session was chaired by Astrakhan Region Governor Aleksandr Zhilkin. The session was attended by Astrakhan Region Minister of Industry, Transport and Natural Resources Radik Kharisov, Astrakhan Region Minister for International Relations Denis Afanasyev, representatives of state supervisory agencies and other member-structures of the Council.

The participants in the session summed up the results of the summer navigation in the Caspian Basin and discussed preparations for the upcoming winter navigation. Particularly, the officials considered measures to determine anchoring stations in the water area of the Volga Caspian Marine Shipping Canal and provide the Canal with additional aids to navigation. The session also focused on the results of the dredging operations in the water area of the Canal in 2017 and plans for the year 2018.

In addition, the participants in the session discussed the efforts aimed at implementing the Strategy on the Development of Russian Seaports in the Caspian Basin, railroad and motor approaches toward them for the period until 2030.

The Astrakhan Branch was represented by chief operating officer Yuri Michurov, who had summed up the results of the Branch’s activities on ensuring navigation safety in the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya in the summer 2017. He told the audience about the implementation of activities scheduled for the year 2018. During the summer navigation, the Astrakhan Branch carried out repair dredging operations to an extent of over 4.5 million cubic meters.
