Astrakhan Branch releases young carp to Volga River

Pursuant to the implementation of environmental measures by the Astrakhan Branch to compensate damage to biological resources and their environment that had been incurred in 2016 during the repairing dredging operations on the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal, a total of 1.3 million young carp was released to the Volga River on November 20, 2017. Representatives of state supervisory agencies took part in the event.

This release of young carp grown by the specialized fishing company, LLC “PCF Fish Rearing Station Chagansky” under the order of the Astrakhan Branch, has become the second one this year and has taken place in the water area of the seaport of Astrakhan.

This year the Astrakhan Branch has spent 2.3 million Rubles to grow and release young carp to the Volga River.

In total over 18 million Rubles have been spent since 2008 to buy and release over nine million young carps and Russian sturgeons to the Volga River and its tributaries.
