Astrakhan and Olya Seaports Included in the List of Seaports with Authorized Entering (Exiting) of Vessels and Other Water Craft Transporting Nuclear Materials

Under Russian Government Order No. 695-r of April 14, 2017 the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya were included in the list of Russian seaports with authorized entering (leaving) of vessels transporting nuclear materials, radioactive substances and products containing radioactive substances in transporting packing sets.

Due to the fact that two abovementioned Russian seaports have been included in the list, Russia now possesses 21 seaports that with authorized entering (leaving) of such vessels.

In order to ensure navigation safety for such vessels in the water areas of the seaports and on the approaches toward them, as well as for other vessels making port calls at the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya, pilotage services, icebreaker support, navigation services with the use of VTS of the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya, maintaining navigation depths in the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal and in the water areas of the seaports and ensuring operation efficiency of navigation support equipment are hardly a full list of services rendered by the Astrakhan Branch.
