LSP-2 Topside Structure Complex Towing Operation Along Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal Has Begun

The towing convoy, including four tugs and the topside structure complex of Ice-Resistant Fixed Platform No 2 (LSP-2) placed on the Ivan Kuvygin transport and installation barge started moving from the seaport of Astrakhan to its destination point – the V. Filanovsky deposit in the Caspian Sea on April 11, 2017.

The towing convoy has to overcome 230 kilometers mainly along the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal.

Pilotage support for the towing convoy is provided by pilots of the Astrakhan Branch in cooperation with VTMS operators in the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya.

Specialists of the navigation hydraulic support service and the Astrakhan Branch fleet also carried out depth sounding along the entire length of the route along the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal.

The towing convoy is expected to arrive at the destination point on April 15, 2017.
