The prompt and coordinated actions of the operators of the Sabetta coastal station of Sea Area A1 GMSSB of FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk Branch helped to promptly deliver a crew member of the icebreaker Yamal to a medical facility in the Sabetta village.

On March 20, 2023, at 11:33 a.m. local time, in the area of operation of the Sabetta coastal station of Sea Area A1 GMSSB, the operator of the communications control center received a call from the Yamal icebreaker, located in the Gulf of Ob, with a message about the need to evacuate a crew member on the instructions of the ship's doctor due to the exacerbation of a chronic disease.

Information about this call was immediately reported by the GMSSB operator to the duty captain-coordinator of the Marine Rescue Coordination Center Dixon of the FSBI “AMP of the Western Arctic” by the duty telephone number.

The captain-coordinator of the MRCC Dixon gave an instruction on the need for the icebreaker to move to the area of section No. 1 of the seaport of Sabetta, where, in turn, the Nadym tugboat was sent from the seaport of Sabetta.

In the area of the receiving buoy of section No. 1 of the Sabetta seaport, after 2.5 hours, the patient was transferred aboard a tugboat, which took him to berth No. 3.

Thanks to the competent and professional work of the operators of the Sabetta coastal station of Sea Area A1 GMSSB, who provided reliable communication between the icebreaker, the tugboat and the captain-coordinator during the rescue operation, the crew member was evacuated in a timely manner and sent to the medical institution of the village of Sabetta for further treatment.
