Arkhangelsk hosted the V Festival of the Arctic Navy

Voronin, a branch of the Federal State Financed Educational Institution of Higher Education “Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping”, Arkhangelsk branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" and State Public Agency of the Arkhangelsk Region "Patriot" conducted the V Festival of the Arctic Navy.

The idea of holding the festival in Arkhangelsk is based on the historical image of Arkhangelsk as the first Russian seaport and gateway to the Arctic.

The goal of the festival is to popularize the Russian Arctic icebreaker fleet, Russian shipbuilding, maritime professions, to attract tourists to Arkhangelsk.

This year's festival is dedicated to several landmark events.

In 2022, the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great is celebrated. The Russian emperor visited the land of Dvina three times. After his first visit to Solombala, the first state shipyard was founded and state shipbuilding began.

This year marks the 110th anniversary of the first Russian scientific expedition to the North Pole under the leadership of Georgy Sedov leaving Arkhangelsk on the ship "St. Foka".

Finally, this year is the 80th anniversary of Solovetsky School of the Navy.

As part of its contribution to the organization of the festival, the Arkhangelsk branch presented all of its icebreakers: "Dixon", "Kapitan Evdokimov", "Kapitan Chadaev" and "Thor", which were docked at the quays in the seaport of Arkhangelsk.

The guests of the festival were able to climb aboard the icebreaker "Dixon" and get acquainted with its structure and the conditions of work of the vessel's crew.
