Arkhangelsk Branch Fleet Replenishment

Under FSUE “Rosmorport” Order No 220 of June 8, 2017 a new ice-class work boat, the Spolokhi, of ST23WI-M Project has been transferred to the Arkhangelsk Branch.

The boat was built in November 2016 under the order of FSUE “Rosmorport” at JSC “Onezhsky Ship Building and Ship Repairing Plant” (Petrozavodsk, Russia).

The Spolokhi workboat has become the second pilot's vessel and the 17th vessel of the Branch's fleet.

This is a single-hull, twin-screw boat with a single-height deckhouse in the midship body and the middle location of the engine space.

The boat's seakeeping performance will allow it to operate in complex meteorological conditions in sea waves higher than 3.5 m. With ice support the boat can operate in ice brush that corresponds to the Ice 2 class.

The boat has advanced powerful diesel engines, which are also power-saving. Such engines will provide an opportunity to reduce the Branch's operating expenditures for the purpose of operative and timely delivery of pilots aboard vessels. In addition, in order to improve maneuverability the bow thrust has been installed on the boat. This instrument helps to increase  maneuverability accuracy during linehandling operations and the boat's movement in narrow waters.

The Spolokhi boat will be used by the Arkhangelsk Branch in the seaport of Arkhangelsk to embark and disembark the Branch's pilots on vessels making calls at the seaport.

For reference:

The vessel was named by the people's word “spolokhi” (“northern lights”) that means the rare beautiful natural phenomenon – the Polar light, i.e. lightening of the uppermost levels of the atmosphere of Earth following its interaction with charged particles of the solar wind.
