In accordance with the sea port of Arkhangelsk captain's order dated 06.11.2012 № 04/1-04/59 on November, 10 2012 at 0:00 MSK the winter navigation opens in the sea port of Arkhangelsk water area.

Terms of the icebreaking pilotage season opening in the sea port of Arkhangelsk and the White sea will be additionally announced. The Arkhangelsk branch is ready to implement assistance Kapitan Chadaev and Kapitan Evdokimov icebreakers. When ice appears in the White sea Dikson and Kapitan Kosolapov icebreakers will be ready to assist.

In case of heavy weather conditions one of the Murmansk branch icebreakers (Kapitan Dranitsin) will be used by the Arkhangelsk branch to implement the assistance in most difficult areas.

Characteristics of all the Arkhangelsk branch icebreakers and that of Murmansk branch meet the White Sea and seaport water areas ice conditions to implement the assistance for vessels allowed in the established order to the North sea basin seaports during winter navigation.

The White Sea assistance lasts from the middle of January till the middle of April at the mean, in the seaport of Arkhangelsk — from the beginning of November till the beginning of May approx. An average winter navigation duration in the White Sea is over 96 days, in the seaport of Arkhangelsk — 170 days approx.
