Participants of the program "Wind of distant wanderings" defend their projects at the Festival of Technical Creativity in the children's camp "Shtormovoy"

The children's camp "Shtormovoy" of RCC "Orlyonok" held a Festival of projects – a key event for participants in the specialized shift "Wind of distant wanderings", where the children presented results of their educational activities.

As part of the solemn start of the Festival, the head of the camp Bogdan Kucherenko made an impassioned speech. He wished children a success in defense of their projects and thanked them for their determination and responsible attitude to the disciplines being mastered.

Students who successfully completed the "Innovative Shipbuilding" training course were lucky to open the event: as part of the Solar Regatta, program participants demonstrated at the pier the life-size solar-powered boats made with their own hands. Mentors of the educational program "Wind of distant wanderings" volunteered to test the boats. Mentors successfully coped with their task, passing along the pier of the children's camp "Shtormovoy" and back.

Also at the pier models of vessels of various modifications, developed at the children's shipyard by participants in the training course "Programming remote control motherboards", successfully passed running tests.

The next stage of the event was the large-scale exhibition exposition of the Festival of projects, consisting of eight exhibition points - stations, namely "Entertaining Navigation", "Augmented Reality Museum", "Port Engineering", "Robotics", "Young Meteorologist", "Morse Alphabet", "Echo Sounder" and "Innovative Shipbuilding".

At each station, visitors were greeted by representatives with their interesting history of the project creation and functioning. For example, at the station "Entertaining Navigation", the children talked about navigation devices that can be made from improvised items – weather vane, binoculars, compass and astrolabe, and also demonstrated how the devices work. At the "Young Meteorologist" station, guests of the Festival learned what a weather station is, what its purpose, origin and design are. Participants in the training course showed how the device they invented can easily measure air temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure.

"Augmented Reality Museum" station, where participants in the training course of the same name talked about the main stages of project development and, on top of that, held an excursion in the museum of the children's camp "Shtormovoy" with elements of augmented reality, caused genuine interest among the Festival guests. The children explained and clearly demonstrated how to get audiovisual information about the exhibits using a tablet or phone with the created "tags".

Young researchers of the "Port Engineering" training course also presented their works –viewers were able not only to get acquainted with the history and features of port cranes, but also to independently handle the developed design.

Visitors to the exhibition were able to learn about the device of the robot, as well as the term "locator" at the point "Robotics in an automated port structure". During the speech of project representatives, 5 robots simultaneously traveled in artificially created space, reacted to obstacles and tried to avoid them by changing the motion vector.

The visitors of the exhibition got the opportunity to encode and decode messages at the "Morse Alphabet" point, where young project leaders talked about the telegraph, its history and field of application.

Participants in the training course "Echo sounder for depth measurement" presented the created echo sounder models. At their point, the children held a fascinating lecture dedicated to ultrasonic waves and their distribution in air and water.

Another interesting point of the exhibition was the "Innovative Shipbuilding" station, where young sailors shared the secret to success in production of sealed swivels within a short time.

The Festival of projects ended with a solemn award ceremony. Each mentor told the children words of gratitude and expressed the hope that the knowledge and practical skills acquired by the participants in the specialized shift will certainly be useful in their lives. All the children received well-deserved certificates of successful development of the marine program "Wind of distant wanderings" and gold, silver and bronze medals as an award. Gold medalists were awarded with valuable gifts with the symbols of FSUE "Rosmorport" – powerbanks, wireless headphones and speakers.

The operator of the "Wind of distant wanderings" program Ulyana Maleva made a final impassioned speech. After thanking the children's camp "Shtormovoy" for cooperation, and the children for their desire to gain new knowledge and practical skills, on behalf of the thematic partner, the shift coordinator handed the FSUE "Rosmorport" cup to the camp "Shtormovoy", noting that this is a common merit of all 73 winners of the "My Port" project. The ceremony ended with making of joint photos of the crews.
