Icebreaking support in the seaport of Vanino will be provided by two icebreakers of FSUE "Rosmorport"

During the winter season 2020-2021, icebreaking support in the seaport of Vanino will be provided by two icebreakers of FSUE "Rosmorport". Vasily Strugov, Deputy General Director for the fleet of the enterprise, spoke about this at an expanded meeting of the Basin Commission for the organization of icebreaking in the seaports of Vanino, Sovetskaya Gavan, De Castri and on approaches to them.

According to the plans, the icebreakers will approach the seaport of Vanino before January 15. First, icebreaking support will be provided by the Moskva and Novorossiysk icebreakers, then the Moskva icebreaker will be replaced by the Captain Khlebnikov icebreaker. Besides, Truzhenik tug with a reinforced ice-class will also work in the seaport.

The procedure for forming caravans for icebreaking support of vessels to the seaport and back to the exit to the edge of the ice was discussed at the meeting.

In 2020, FSUE "Rosmorport" began to carry out piloting vessels through ice from December 7. The icebreaking group of FSUE "Rosmorport" is the largest icebreaking group in the world. The enterprise fleet includes 36 icebreakers and icebreaker tugs of various capacities which provide pilotage services in 15 freezing Russian seaports.
