FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrei Lavrishchev made a working visit to the Sakhalin region on April 17, 2019.

During the visit to the seaport of Korsakov, Lavrishchev and acting Director-General of Korsakov Commercial Seaport JSC Ruslan Rumyantsev discussed the activities and further prospects for the development of the seaport.

During the trip, the FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director focused on the development of seaports of the region at a meeting held in Yuzhko-Sakhalinsk and chaired by acting governor of the Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko. The meeting also involved deputy premier of the Sakhalin Region Government Sergei Olontsev, acting deputy head of the Governor’s Office and Sakhalin Region Government in Moscow Maxim Funtusov, director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Sakhalin Branch Yevgeny Pankratov and heads of stevedoring companies.

The participants in the meeting discussed transport accessibility and the development of the seaport infrastructure of Sakhalin. Special attention was paid to prospects for the development of seaports of Kholmsk, Poronaisk and Korsakov.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” Sakhalin Branch carried out its activities in seven seaports and eight sea terminals of Sakhalin and the Kurile Islands. The branch deals with functioning of the region’s port complexes and renders comprehensive services for navigation safety in water areas of the seaports.

Andrei Lavrishchev said that in 2019 FSUE “Rosmorport” had planned to make a full-scale gradual reconstruction of the first and second sections of the ferry complex, which will be made in the seaports of Kholmsk and Vanino. In the course of the reconstruction process equipment will be replaced, berths’ lengths will be increased and dredging operations will be carried out. This will give an opportunity to handle vessels of Ro-Ro type and transship container cargoes. The reconstruction of ferry complexes is synchronized with the construction of two new ferries. Andrei Lavrishchev also stressed that FSUE “Rosmorport” had begun the works aimed at reconstructing entrance breakwaters of the Southern Harbor of the seaport of Kholmsk that will normalize the gross capacity of the water area of the seaport and considerably decrease the wave impact on hydraulic structures of the seaport during the storm.

Representatives of the industry noted that several projects of the development of the region’s port infrastructure were planned to be implemented in the form of public private partnership. At present, front and engineering designs works are held to develop the seaports of Poronaisk and Korsakov.
