Congratulations on the World Maritime Day!
Dear colleagues!
On behalf of FSUE “Rosmorport” and on my own behalf I congratulate you on the World Maritime Day.
This holiday has been celebrated since 1978 on the decision of the 10th session of the International Maritime Organization Assembly and is part of world and international days of the United Nations Organization.
On this day under the auspices of the UN and IMO the international community calls for ensuring safety of sea shipping, fighting poach, protecting water areas from oil pollution. Different exhibitions and conferences on these issues are held in many states. The maritime sector plays an important role in economic sustainable development and in global stability.
In 2017 the World Maritime Day is being held under the slogan, “Vessels, Ports, People: Uniting the Course”. This year the holiday is designed for providing support for the IMO member-states to develop strategies aimed at implementing a comprehensive approach toward sea transport management, ensuring navigation and maritime safety, protecting environmental systems. Seas and oceans as other elements of the environment require rational and careful approach.
For the period of its existence the International Maritime Organization approved many standards, which ensured security at sea and the environmental protection.
