Information on icebreaker support in Russian seaports as of February 2017

Since the beginning of icebreaker support period in 2016-2017 FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers have provided support for 3.434 vessels.

Artic Basin
The Moskva and the Tor icebreakers provide icebreaker support in the Sabetta seaport water area. Sixty vessels have been escorted to the seaport since the beginning of the icebreaker support period.

White Sea
At present, three icebreakers – the Dikson, the Kapitan Yevdokimov and the Kapitan Chadaev – ensure vessel movement in this area. Since the start of winter navigation a total of 214 vessels have been escorted.

Gulf of Finland
Since the beginning of navigation icebreaker support has been provided to 938 vessels. The North-Western Basin Branch uses 12 icebreakers.

Sea of Azov
The four icebreakers – the Kapitan Moshkin, the Kapitan Chudinov, the Kapitan Demidov and the Kapitan Krutov – provide support to the seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog and Yeisk.
From the start of winter navigation in the region, 1667 vessels have been escorted.

Caspian Sea
The icebreakers – the Kapitan Chechkin, the Kapitan Metsayk and the Kapitan Bukaev – provide support for vessels in the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal.
From the start of winter navigation, 477 vessels have been escorted.

Far Eastern Basin
The Krasin icebreaker provides support for vessels in the Vanino seaport. Since the winter navigation a total of 32 vessels have been escorted to the Magadan seaport.

The world largest diesel icebreaker fleet, which includes 36 icebreakers of different capacity, provides year-round accessibility of the country’s seaports.
