From the Start of Winter Navigation in the Eastern Part of the Gulf of Finland 469 vessels Escorted

In the Eastern part of the Gulf of Finland 15 icebreaker supports have been conducted over the past day. In total, from the start of winter navigation 469 icebreaker supports of vessels have been conducted.

Currently, vessel traffic in this area is maintained by 7 icebreakers: Ivan Kruzenshtern, Semen Dezhnev, Mudyug, Kapitan Sorokin, Caru, Kapitan Izmailov and Yuri Lisyansky.

Icebreakers Saint Petersburg, Ermak, Vladivostok, Kapitan Nikolaev, Kapitan Zarubin and Kapitan Plahin are in the operational reserve.

Ice conditions:

1. In Seaport Primorsk there is broken ice with thickness of 10-20 cm on the approaches to the port. In the water areas of the port and in the Strait of Berkezund there is fast ice with thickness up to 25 cm. The channel is passable.

2. In Seaport Ust-Luga in the river roadstead area there is ice with thickness of 10-20 cm.  In the port water areas there is ice-free water.

3. In the Neva Bay there is fast ice with thickness of 15-30 cm. From the entrance buoy to C-1 there is continuous broken ice field 10-20 cm thick. At the area  buoy area - 23/24 - 132 picket there is fast ice, the channel is blocked, ice is 15-25 cm thick.

4. In the seaports of Vyborg/Vysotsk: on the approaches to Vysotsk vill. from Halley isl. to Vikhrevoy isl. There is broken ice 10-20 cm thick. In the Vysotsk-Vyborg Channel there is fast ice with thickness of 15-25 cm. Under the influence of southern and western winds there is ice drift.
