Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation explores the achievements of FSUE “Rosmorport” at the Russia on the Move Exhibition

Roman Starovoit, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, made an official tour around the Russia in Motion Exhibition, one of the key participants of which being FSUE “Rosmorport”. The joint exposition of the Ministry of Transport of Russia is located in Pavilion 15 “Povolzhye” at VDNKh as part of the International Russia Expo.

The Russia on the Move Exhibition, aimed at raising awareness among Moscow citizens and visitors about the importance of the transport industry for the economic and social spheres of our country, opened on November 25, 2023 and was extended until July 8, 2024. The exhibition consists of several blocks dedicated to various types of transport.

Presenting the main achievements of the Russian maritime industry, FSUE “Rosmorport” demonstrates models of modern technological vessels that are part of the fleet of the enterprise that owns the world's largest icebreaking flotilla and the largest dredging fleet in the country.

The exhibition features models of the world's largest and most powerful diesel-electric icebreaker Viktor Chernomyrdin of 22600 project, an innovative dual-fuel ferry of CNF19M project General Chernyakhovsky, a high-performance dredger Pyotr Sablin, which is part of the country's largest group of dredging vessels of FSUE “Rosmorport”, engaged in large-scale work at the Volga-Caspian sea shipping canal (VCSSC), which is an important part of the international North–South transport corridor. FSUE “Rosmorport” also presents a model of the new dredger Nikolay Rusanov, which is in the final stage of testing and will soon replenish the enterprise's fleet and begin dredging operations at VCSSC.

In 2023, the enterprise, by order of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, provided a canal draught of 4.5 m. For this purpose, more than 40 dredging vessels were involved in the navigation last year. Dredging operations at VCSSC this year are aimed at maintaining a canal draught of 4.5 m, as well as expanding one-way traffic sections. In addition, protective structures, consisting of three sections, are being built on the sections of the canal that are most prone to drift, and one unloading canal.

As part of the tour, Sergey Pylin, head of FSUE “Rosmorport”, reported to Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation on the results of the work of the Viktor Chernomyrdin icebreaker during 2023-2024 ice navigation period. The flagship of the enterprise's icebreaking fleet provided icebreaker assistance for more than 280 vessels in the Gulf of Finland – mainly large-tonnage tankers en route to the seaport of Primorsk. Engaging the Viktor Chernomyrdin vessel, which has a high ice class and capacity, in complex icebreaking assistance allows to prevent accidents and failure of vessels assistance in severe ice conditions.

One of the significant achievements of the enterprise is maintaining the operation of the Seaport of Ust-Luga – Seaport of Kaliningrad line to provide transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad region in the conditions of sanction restrictions on land transit of a number of cargoes.

The new dual-fuel ferries Marshal Rokossovsky and General Chernyakhovsky, which were put on the line in 2022, continue uninterrupted transportation of socially significant goods and in the first half of this year carried out about 130 voyages on the Seaport of Ust-Luga – Seaport of Kaliningrad line, 4 % more than in the same period last year. At the same time, the number of transported goods increased by 10 %, amounting to more than 590 thousand tons due to the optimization of vessels loading.

At the end of the tour, a solemn ceremony of awarding the best participants took place. Roman Starovoit thanked everyone involved in the organization of the exposition, as well as events of the cultural, educational and business program. FSUE “Rosmorport”, with the support of which the Russia on the Move Exhibition was held, also received an award.

The Minister stressed that the Russia Expo had made an invaluable contribution to the development of the country.

“We were able to assess its scale and diversity, and learned a lot about all regions and industries. The most important strategic decisions were made on the sidelines of the exhibition, which will undoubtedly serve for the benefit of our Motherland. The exhibition was able to truly unite all of us,” Roman Starovoit said, noting that over 570 thousand people have visited the exhibition since its opening.
