FSUE "Rosmorport" participates in the creation of a memorial to the heroes of Sevastopol

On July 12, 2020 a monument "Stepped into immortality" was unveiled in Sevastopol. The memorial is dedicated to the heroism and courage of the 14th coastal battery personnel, who defended their hometown during the Great Patriotic War till the last breath. The monument was unveiled on the territory of the Admiral Nakhimov Naval Academy, where Sevastopol VTMS is located.

The soldiers from the 14th coastal battery repelled two waves of attack of the enemy troops invaded the city, during the third wave its defenders died like heroes. In 1962, a memorial board was installed on the place where the destroyed battery was situated; now the feat of the soldiers is immortalized in the memorial complex.

Reserve captain of the 2nd rank Alexander Bondarenko and sculptor Yuri Gridasov worked on its creation. The monument dedicated to the soldiers is a composition of four Red Navy sailors who step towards death fearlessly. FSUE “Rosmorport” allocated funds for the model of the 152-mm "Kane" gun.

Among the honored guests of the event were representatives of veteran organizations of Sevastopol, the Sevastopol Maritime Assembly, the command of the Black Sea Fleet, employees of the Sevastopol Military Historical Museum-Reserve and relatives of the heroes. The event was attended by Andrei Filchakov, the director of the Crimean branch of FSUE “Rosmorport”.

The guests of the event honored the memory of the heroes and laid flowers at the memorial.
