FSUE “Rosmorport” sums up results of the activities over the first six months

Over the first six months of the year 2020 FSUE “Rosmorport” income increased by 6% as compared to the first six months of the year 2019 and reached 14.7 billion Rubles. The enterprise received 10.4 billion Rubles with regard to operating income which is 450 million Rubles lower than the amount received for the same period of the last year. The proceeds from other and associated activities, including commercial services of the fleet, became the value that balanced the enterprise’s half-year gains, which amounted to 2.7 billion Rubles.

Throughout the reporting period the number of vessel calls has decreased by 2% as compared to the first six months of last year and exceeded the level of 58,000, among them were 33,000 of vessels of foreign navigation (minus 3%) and 25,000 of ships of coastal voyage (minus 1%). The decrease in servicing of vessels was conditioned by the pandemic disease and imposed restrictive measures. As anticipated, the sector reacted to these measures with a delay. At the same time, the decline was reported in seaports of the European part of the country: in St Petersburg due to the absence of cruises, the seaports designed for transshipment of coal, including Murmansk, oil and oil products, i.e. in Primorsk, Vysotsk and Ust Luga. Moreover, the number of vessels which put calls at the seaports of Nakhodka, Vostochny, and Kaliningrad for bunkering water services also decreased.

Totally, the dredging operations carried out by FSUE “Rosmorport” over the six months of the year 2020 amounted to about 3.5 million cubic meters – 42% that was set in the year’s plan, i.e. 8.3 million cubic meters. By tradition the enterprise carries out works mainly on the Volga Caspian Marine Shipping Canal. Due to the Caspian Sea  level lowering tendency FSUE “Rosmorport” intensifies its efforts aimed at carrying out dredging operations in the open part of the canal: if last year the repair dredging works amounted to 3.6 million cubic meters, this year the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch has to carry out the works in the amount of 3.9 cubic meters. In addition, at present, the enterprise is implementing a project to build protective facilities (dams) in the marine part of the canal in order to solve the filling problem that will allow reducing sediment accumulation by 35% and optimizing the volume of works, as well as future long-term associated costs.

Throughout the reporting period the enterprise released over 510,000 samples of young fish in the amount of over 79 million Rubles to compensate for the damage caused to water bioresources during the dredging operations. As a whole, the enterprise spent about 100 million Rubles to take compensatory measures and make environmental monitoring of the area.

Despite the economic changes, the enterprise keeps the pace of the innovation development and continues to implement a program for developing and expanding the fleet. The enterprise put on the books five new tugboats of Arc4 Ice Class equipped with pod drives that had become the landmark event in the first six months of the year. These mechanisms provide with high maneuverability. Moreover, a tugboat of Arc5 Ice Class is now under construction at the Onego Shipyard. Two pilot boats with the hybrid propulsion system have been put afloat and taken to the seaport of Big Port St Petersburg for further transportation by sea aboard a carrier ship to use them in the seaport of Vanino. It is important to note that the program is implemented without any support measures despite the fact that the enterprise is related to a list of systemic companies and included in a corresponding industry list made up by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

Over the first six months of the year 2020 the enterprise has completed the works to reconstruct aids to navigation in the seaport of Feodosia and create a NAVTEX radio station in the seaport of Taganrog. The enterprise put into operation a building of the vessel tracking management system in Makhachkala and ended construction and assembly works on the facility “The Reconstruction of Hydraulics: Berth No. 34, Berth No. 35, the Approach Channel and Berths No. 31-35, the Water Area of Berth No. 34, the Water Area of Berth No. 35 in the Seaport of Vostochny”.

The coronavirus pandemic made its corrections to the period of execution of works on the facilities. Nevertheless, the enterprise continues the works to build a ferry passenger berth on the left coast of the Anadyr lagoon in the settlement of Ugolnye Kopi and reconstruct berths in the seaport of Pevek. The enterprise resumes the works to build an international cargo passenger sea terminal in Pionersky, Kaliningrad Region, create facilities of federal ownership of the coal complex in the Muchka Bay, Khabarovsk Territory.

The enterprise is preparing to place a debut tranche issue, which assumes special importance in new economic conditions for stable finance support of capital investment programs. In June FSUE “Rosmorport” confirmed its ruAAA creditworthiness rating.
