By distancing all its rivals, the FSUE “Rosmorport” Mir sailing ship came first in the Tall Ship Races international regatta second stage. One of the fastest sailing ships of Class A reached the seaport of Aarhus (Denmark) on July 29, 2019.

The Mir sailing ship left the seaport of Bergen (Norway) on July 24 and took part in a traditional parade of sails that had marked the start of the race. This year the regatta involved 46 ships from more than 30 countries. Throughout the whole route the headwind led to a great number of sailing all-hands on deck and turns. Amidst difficult weather conditions the crews had to work hard in order to move successfully toward control points of the route. A real duel launched out between Captain of the Mir sailing ship Andrei Orlov and Captain of the Fryderyk Chopin brig Bartlomiej Skwara. But the joint efforts taken by the crew and the speed performance of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Mir sailing ship played a decisive role. Early in the morning the Mir sailing ship became the first one in its class to cross the finish line.

An intensive program was organized for the guests of the regatta. It involved musical concerts, spectacles and flash mobs. All crews took part in a traditional parade at central streets of the city. The municipality of Aarhus and organizers of the regatta specially erected a 50-meter panoramic wheel to allow the residents and guests of the city to look at the most beautiful frigates with a bird's eye view.

During the docking, the Mir frigate will work in a mode of open board. Excursions will be held for all those who wish. At present, a total of 132 cadets of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping undergo training aboard the frigate.

The Mir sailing ship will stay at the seaport of Aarhus till August 4. Then it will leave for Warnemunde (Germany).
