FSUE “Rosmorport” thematic shift ends in Russian Children’s Center “Orlyonok”

The 7th FSUE “Rosmorport” thematic shift “The Sea is the Vector of the Future” ended at the Russian Children’s Center “Orlyonok” on July 13, 2019. One can recall that the innovation project “My Port” has been successfully bringing up children and teenagers for four years in the spirit of glorious Russian maritime traditions. Under the project, a total of 100 boys and girls have been selected to visit the center.

Over the course of three weeks, young mariners trained hard, learned programs of the Academy of Maritime Professions, worked jointly in crews. In addition to applied skills, the children were able to learn more on the details of marine navigation, the specifics of maritime professions and the port industry. Within the shift the children visited the Mikhail Kutuzov cruiser, Admiral Ushakov State Maritime University, they were also able to admire the legendary FSUE “Rosmorport” Khersones sailing ship, which had called at the water area of the children’s center on the eve of the “Orlyonok” anniversary.

On July 12, the Russian Children’s Center “Orlyonok” marked its 59th anniversary. Within the festive events the boys and girls were able to show their worth during sporting events and contests. The FSUE “Rosmorport” Cup Regatta became the landmark event during which the best children contended for the championship on six-oared yawls.

Interactive creative and excursion platforms, a photo zone, an exhibition of handicrafts with maritime subject matters on which young mariners had worked during the shift functioned on the territory of the center. The boys and girls of the “Shtormovoy” who undertook the “Younger Polar Explorer” course presented a table game.

Children, who had successfully completed training on innovation shipbuilding, demonstrated radio-guided models of vessels on solar batteries to the director of the project “Solar Regatta”, Yevgeny Kazanov, and the deputy director of the Autonomous Noncommercial Organization “The National Center of Engineering Contests and Competitions”, Konstantin Suprunin, who attended the event as chief experts and honorary guests.

On the closing day each crewmember received  certificates proving that they passed the thematic shift “The Sea is the Vector of the Future”. The most active children were initiated into senior sailors. Young mariners also took home awards and prizes which they won during games, quizzes and sporting competitions, as well as souvenirs, including outfit with FSUE “Rosmorport” emblems.
