FSUE “Rosmorport” discusses navigation safety at Rosmorrechflot Collegium session

Rosmorrechflot and the Public Council at Rosmorrechflot gathered for a joint session in Moscow on July 5, 2019. The session was chaired by Russian Deputy Transport Minister, the head of Rosmorrechflot Yuri Tsevtkov. The event included members of the Russian State Duma, lower house of the Russian parliament, representatives of Russia’s Transport Ministry, the Russian Audit Chamber, Rostransnadzor, Rosmorrechflot, subordinate enterprises and public organizations. FSUE “Rosmorport” was represented by Deputy General Director for Interaction with Executive Authorities Alexander Smirnov and the head of navigation safety and transport security department Viktor Zamyatin.

The participants in the collegium discussed a plan on the development of FSUE “Rosmorport” navigation safety systems for the period until 2024. They also discussed the functioning of and prospects for the development of navigation safety systems in Russian seaports aimed at reducing risks of marine casualties and carrying out international obligations of Russia on safety of life at sea.

Over the 16 years the enterprise has performed great work on the development and maintenance of navigation safety systems. FSUE “Rosmorport” renders services on vessel tracking management systems in 35 Russian seaports. A total of 968.000 vessels used these services in 2018.

The plan envisages conducting more than 40 major events, the most of which is related to retrofitting and upgrading of the existing systems. New navigation safety systems facilities will be mainly built in the Arctic and Far Eastern Basins.

During the session, the collegium focused on issues to ensure navigation safety in the water area of the Northern Sea Route and practical training of cadets of educational organizations.
