The Church of St. Nicolas the Wonderworker and Archbishop of Mira at Moscow’s Lodochnaya Street – a spiritual center of sailors and river transport workers of Russia – was dedicated on  July 5, 2019 on the eve of a professional holiday.

A solemn ceremony was attended by Russian presidential aide Igor Levitin, Russian Deputy Transport Minister, head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport Yuri Tsvetkov, FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrei Lavrishchev, workers and veterans of the industry, and charity providers who render aid to building the church, as well as the laity.

Moscow’s North-West Vicar’s administrator, Right Reverend Bishop Foma of Bronnitsy, vicar of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, conducted the liturgy and the lesser consecration of the church. Upon completion of the divine service he thanked charity providers for their efforts aimed at erecting the church and congratulated the audience on the upcoming holiday.

The Church of St. Nicolas the Wonderworker and Archbishop of Mira is the first and sole spiritual center of not only naval mariners, but also all involved in the functioning of the maritime and river fleet. The temple complex built in a Vladimir Suzdal architecture XII-XIV centuries style is located on shore of the Khimki reservoir storage. The complex was built with the support of Rosmorrechflot and with contribution made by FSUE “Rosmorport” and other enterprises, organizations of the industry, as well as separate charity providers. The church is built exclusively based on donations.
