FSUE “Rosmorport” thematic shift opens in Russian children’s center “Orlyonok”

FSUE “Rosmorport” opened a partner’s shift “The Sea is the Vector of the Future” in Russia’s children center “Orlyonok” on June 27, 2019. One hundred winners of the Russian contest “My Port” organized by the enterprise arrived at the center to take part in an educational project on maritime subject matter.

During a solemn parade, the national flag of the Russian Federation, the flags of Russia’s Transport Ministry, Rosmorrechflot, FSUE “Rosmorport”, the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Military Education “Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping” were hoisted.

The guests of the ceremony greeted children and wished them interesting research and new discoveries. Deputy director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch, head of the Tuapse Directorate Yuri Turishchev and director of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping Marine Federal Resource Center of Children’s Extended Education Andrei Berezhkin were among the guests.

“Maritime professions are not easy. It is necessary to prepare for them from a young age. Just after such shifts children can consciously make their choice. Today I’ve seen happy eyes of the youngest participant and I believe he will love the sea and become a captain. That is why I consider the academy of maritime professions and the courses that children will study here very useful,” Turishchev said.

For his part, Berezin said maritime schools stood in need of such talented and ambitious children as the participants of the thematic shift.

Upon words of welcome, by good tradition, the new participants in the shift were given jack flags and let into “lubbers”. Children, who take part in the FSUE “Rosmorport” program once again, have titles of “a young sailor” and “a quarter master”.

During the shift, children will leave for Novorossiysk to visit the Knyaz Vladimir cruise liner, the Mikhail Kutuzov museum cruiser and Admiral Ushakov State Maritime University. Moreover, girls and boys will have the unique opportunity to attend the FSUE “Rosmorport” Khersones sailing ship: they will be able to study the ship’s construction and pass thematic master classes.

Children will also take part in regattas, exhibitions of ports’ and ships’ models that they will create themselves. The best models will be marked by FSUE “Rosmorport” cups and prizes. The shift in the children’s center will last till July 14, 2019.

The purpose of the “My Port” project existing from 2015 is to implement educational programs, which will contribute to the patriotic education of the young generation and the strengthening of respect for the glorious historical past of Russia as a naval power.
