Participants in working meeting in Kavkaz seaport discuss infrastructure readiness for receiving ferries from Turkey

A working meeting was held in the seaport of Kavkaz on June 25, 2019 to open the route between Russia’s seaport of Kavkaz and the Republic of Turkey in order to increase cargo flow in the seaport of Kavkaz. FSUE “Rosmorport” was represented by director of the Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch Anna Fomenko and deputy chief for the capital construction and repairs department Yelena Khokhlova. Representatives of the Republic of Turkey, FSBI “The Administration of the Sea of Azov”, state control agencies and commercial structures also took part in the event.

The meeting focused on a possibility to organize regular vessel calls at the seaport of Kavkaz for vessels carrying Turkey-made products. FSUE “Rosmorport” informed the participants in the meeting about the current state of the port infrastructure and the Russian border checkpoint, working vessels in the seaport. The participants in the meeting confirmed the complex’s readiness to receive and service ferries.

In the evening the Turkish ship carrying fruit-and-vegetable cargoes has arrived at Berth No 4 of the motor passenger ferry landing crossing of the seaport of Kavkaz. This trial trip will help outline a plan of events to ensure the operation of a permanent ferry line between Russia and Turkey.
