A solemn awarding ceremony was held in the port of Scheveningen (the Netherlands) on June 23, 2019 for the winners of the Liberty Tall Ships Regatta international race. The regatta started in the French city of Rouen on June 17. The youngest crew of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Mir sailing ship came first in the race.

The event timed to the 75^th anniversary of the Allies landing in Normandy during World War II involved 30 yachts from 13 countries. Vessels passed about 300 nautical miles across the English Channel along the North Sea coast and reached The Hague on June 20.

A three-day festival took place in the port of Scheveningen (the Netherlands). The organizers of the event offered a fascinating program to visitors: musical concerts, fairs, beach volleyball and football. Cadets of the Mir sailing ship took part in sportive and cultural events and organized an open board for residents and guests of the city. The ship’s crew introduced the guests to the ship’s construction and lifestyle on one of the   most beautiful and high-speed vessels. The city festivals ended with the solemn awarding festival and a vibrant parade of sailing ships’ crews with the involvement of cadets of the Russian sailing ship.

A commemoration meeting devoted to the 78^th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War was organized on June 22. Cadets recited poetries and sang wartime songs. A minute of silence was declared upon completion of the event.

Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Alexander Shulgin visited the sailing ship. He wished cadets further success in obtaining a maritime profession. A tour around the frigate was given for the ambassador. Then he signed the Visitors’ Book.
