FSUE “Rosmorport” wins in the 3rd division of the International Sailing Regatta Ust Luga 2019 Cup

The 8th International Sailing Regatta “Ust Luga Cup” was held in the Baltic Sea on June 8-15, 2019. The event was conducted with the support of the Russian Yachting Federation and the Russian Transport Ministry. The regatta is held under the slogan “One Sea, One Profession, One Fate!” and it is the biggest sectoral sailing race in the Baltic Sea.

The 2019 competitions started with two races in the Tallinn Bay and continued by Tallinn-Helsinki race and several short races along the southern coast of Finland. Twelve teams managed to show their abilities, got new maritime skills, expanded their professional and sailing horizons related to the traditions of maritime cultures of Russia and Europe. The crews of the yachts consisted of non-professional yachtsmen by three quarters. Among them were employees of the industry’s companies and organizations.

The team of the Marine Rescue Service finished first in the first classification run and the team of Morstroytechnology I came second.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” team was led by Sergei Dadyka, advisor to the director-general. The team included employees of the North-Western Basin Branch: Andrei Kovalev, chief of the dispatching department, Sergei Larenkov, pilot I category, Sergei Spiridonov, VTS Saint-Petersburg operator and Sergei Boichenko, chief specialist of the dispatching service.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” team took part in the third classification run on the Postimees sports motorboat recently built at the Estonian shipyard. The Postman (that is the way to translate the boat’s name) turned out to be very quick and outrun all competitors. Thus the enterprise’s team came first in its group without losing a race.

A solemn awarding ceremony was held in St Petersburg on June 15. Members of the FSUE “Rosmport” team got memorable medals with the regatta’s symbols.

You will recall that for the first time the competitions for non-professional yachtsmen were organized in 2012 and timed to the 10th anniversary of the seaport of Ust Luga. Over the seven years the Cup has come a long way from the regional industry tournament to the international sailing project. The regatta has become a large-scale initiative in the field of sailing sports and an effective instrument to develop and maintain corporative culture. The Ust Luga Cup facilitates integration of European maritime cities and seaports seeking to develop partnership and business-like cooperation in the Baltic region. Over the years of its existence representatives of Russia, Germany, Holland, Finland and Estonia took part in the races.
