Russian Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh visited the Nadezhda sailing ship in Vladivostok on September 10, 2018.

Russian Deputy Transport Minister, head of  Rosmorrechflot Yuri Tsvetkov, FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrei Lavrishchev and other representatives of the enterprise also visited the ship.

Cadets, who undergo training and study the basics of maritime affairs on the ship, took part in a solemn parade to greet honorable guests. The frigate’s captain, Sergei Vorobyov, spoke about the successful completion of the first stage of SCF Far East Tall Ships Regatta 2018 and the confident victory in the race.

During the excursion on the ship, the guests were introduced to the construction of the frigate, demonstrated the captain’s bridge, cadets’ quarters and classrooms. Hoisting a gaff-sail on the bowsprit has become the brightest moment of the program.

In informal surroundings Yevgeny Ditrikh congratulated the crewmembers and cadets on the victory in the competitions and talked with future old weather-beaten tars and wished them to successfully complete their training, and then work for the sake of Russia’s interests at sea.

The Russian Minister of Transport riveted attention to the high level of maritime skills. He noted that the Nadezhda sailing ship’s crew are real professionals, who prepared hundreds of specialists of maritime affairs. “From the first steps on deck cadets plunge into the learning process and receive qualitative knowledge,” he stressed.

The minister gave a memorable gift for the classroom of the sailing ship. Up-to-date technical equipment will allow cadets to practice with great interest and enthusiasm. Moreover, Yevgeny Ditrikh wished the captain and the crew of the ship prosperity and “always at least one finger of water under the keel!” by making a respective record in the visitors’ book.

The Nadezhda arrived at the home port of Vladivostok on September  9. Under the program of the first stage of the regatta on the route between Yeosu (the Republic of Korea) and Vladivostok (Russia), the frigate overcame over 600 nautical miles under sails. The crew and cadets of Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University handle it aboard the ship. On the same day the guests visited the university to introduce to its research and manufacturing complex and plans on further development of its training base.
